Castle Holíč

One of the many landmarks of the city of Holíč is the baroque-classical Holíč castle, which is mentioned in documents as early as 1256. Its present-day late-baroque appearance is the result of the reconstruction of an anti-Turkish fortress into a representative residence of the Habsburg family. The building itself is surrounded by a castle wall and a moat, which served a protective function. A park once continued behind the moat, but it was shortly after the 1st St. destroyed during the war.

Today, the premises of the castle house the City Museum and gallery, where you can admire the historical buildings of the city, the original state of the castle and much more. It includes a permanent exhibition of crafts and guilds, folk costume and many other artifacts related to the region.
