The Zádielska gorge national nature reserve is a 3 km long karst gorge located in the Zádielska valley. The length of the entire valley is less than 11 km, and the gorge is its most beautiful part. Its depth reaches more than 300 meters in places and its width is only 10 meters. It was created by the intense erosive activity of the Blatnica stream, which still gives it a romantic touch when it creates cascades or small waterfalls in various places.
The Zádiel gorge is known for massive rock cliffs, vertical walls or rock cliffs of various shapes. There are also more than 120 caves on its territory, the most famous of which is the Kráľovská jaskyňa with a length of 17 meters. The easiest way to get to the gorge is by the tourist sign from the village of Zádiel, and there is also a 7.5 km long educational trail with information boards.
