Harmanecká cave

Harmanecká cave is the most important Slovak cave located near the village of Dolný Harmanec. The entrance part of the cave, called Izbica, has been known since time immemorial. However, other parts were discovered by accident in 1932. Underground halls and corridors are made up of snow-white limestone drip decoration, extensive domes, wall waterfalls and ponds.

In addition to the rich decoration, primitive plants and 10 species of bats live in the cave. The cave is 2,650 meters long, of which 720 are open to visitors. However, some parts are walked repeatedly and the total length of the tour route is over 1,020 meters. The entrance to the cave can be reached from the parking lot via an educational trail, the ascent takes approximately 40 minutes.
