At the top of Hradová hill on the outskirts of Košice, there is an observation tower, which is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. It offers a beautiful view of the city of Košice, the Košice and Hornádská basins, and the surrounding mountains. It is very easily accessible from the city by public transport or by car, and from the bus stop or the parking lot is about a 20-minute walk through the forest.
The tower itself is 21.5 meters high and has 3 viewing terraces at a height of 10.88 m, 13.6 m and 16.32 m. On the highest one there are relief maps showing the highest peaks in the vicinity and binoculars zooming in on the surrounding landscape. Today’s tower is steel and was built in 1987, replacing the original wooden one from 1909.
