Hrhovský waterfall

The Hrhovský waterfall is unique in Slovakia, which is located right in the village, almost between the houses. It is the largest and most abundant waterfall in the Slovak Karst. The water falls from a height of 15 meters and creates beautiful cascades that immediately enchant visitors. It is fed by the Veľká hlava spring, which also supplies the village with drinking water. The constant flow of water here created travertine up to 16 meters thick, whose age is estimated to be more than 5,000 years old.
The area is also significant from an archaeological point of view, as many fossils and other finds have been found here. There is no problem with access to the waterfall, the municipality of Hrhov has built several information boards here for easier orientation or a smaller rest area. A metal bridge has been built above the top of the waterfall allowing a view from above.
