Jasovská cave

Jasovská cave is the first accessible cave in Slovakia, since 1924. It is located in the easternmost outcrop of the Slovak Karst and is home to a rich calcite sinter filling, unusual rock shapes and 19 species of bats. Bones of a cave bear or a cave hyena were also found here during exploration. An interesting thing is the inscription written in Schwabach from 1452 located on the top floor.
The total length of the cave is 2811 meters, of which 550 are open to visitors, and the tour takes approximately 45 minutes. The cave is located on the outskirts of the village of Jasov and is only a few minutes’ walk from the public transport stop or the parking lot. Since 1995, health stays for allergy sufferers and asthmatics have been organized in the cave.
