Kunsthalle/Art Hall Košice

The old indoor swimming pool is still considered one of the most architecturally valuable buildings built at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s in Košice. The draining of the Mlynský Nahon river bed meant destruction for the swimming pool, and after a few years it had to be closed for technical reasons. It awaited its fate until Košice was awarded the title of European Capital of Culture, when it was decided to convert it into a modern art hall – the Kunsthalle.
During the reconstruction, most of the architectural elements were preserved, and with the reconstruction into the Kunsthalle/Hall of Art, it began a new phase of its existence. Today, it is primarily used for the presentation of visual art by domestic and foreign authors, resulting in a perfect connection between the past and the future.
