It is hard to imagine the center of Košice without the singing fountain and carillon located between the State Theater and the Cathedral of St. Elizabeth. The fountain is part of the color of the city and attracts many domestic and foreign tourists every year. It was originally built in 1986, which makes it the oldest singing fountain in the former Czechoslovakia. In 2023, it underwent extensive reconstruction.
Its uniqueness lies in the water currents and lighting, which are synchronized and react to their own music, chimes or live music from the State Theatre. After the last reconstruction, it also allows the projection of an image on the water mist, which underlines its uniqueness. In close proximity to the fountain there is a carillon consisting of 22 bells symbolizing the number of districts. The fountain is in operation outside the winter months.
