Smolenice Castle

The history of Smolenice Castle dates back to the 15th century, when it became the seat of the Smolenice estate. During the 18th century, however, due to a lack of funds, it gradually began to decline, and its destruction was complete during the Napoleonic Wars, when the main building of the castle, including the tower, burned down. At the end of the 19th century, work began on the restoration of the castle, which was completed shortly after World War II.

In the 1950s, the SAS acquired the castle so that representative meetings of scientists from all over the world could be held here. Representative spaces are still available today for work and social events. Even though it is one of the youngest castles in our country, it is a very popular tourist destination throughout the year, a place for organizing conferences or weddings.
