The Branč Castle

The first written mention of Branč Castle dates back to 1317, but its beginnings are estimated as early as the 13th century. It served to protect Hungarian borders and important trade routes in the area. The castle is divided into lower and middle, which are separated by a deep moat. The middle castle is divided into the northern courtyard and the residential part, which in its heyday had 40 rooms on three floors. Currently, only one room is available.

The ideal way to get here is the asphalt road from the village of Podbranč, suitable for cars, bicycles or visitors on foot. The journey takes about 10 minutes from the parking lot near the church and is also suitable for families with children. A blue-marked hiking trail leads to the cemetery, or a marked cycle path directly to the castle.
