On the hill near the village of Kremnické Bane is the Church of St. John the Baptist. At first glance, an ordinary church, but the center of its tower is the Geographical Center of Europe. Even though this point has been disputed for many years and is appropriated by several countries, legend has it that because of the rich gold deposits in nearby Kremnica, it was Kremnické Bany that began to be referred to as the center of Europe.

In the area of ​​the geographical center of Europe there is a monument commemorating the historical landmarks of the establishment of the Slovak Republic. This place is very accessible and can be reached by car, bus and train. Lovers of exercise can come here by bicycle along the marked cycle path, and the red touristic SNP Heroes’ Route also runs nearby.
