How To Travel In Slovakia?

From UNESCO World Heritage Sites to fairytale castles, you will find everything as you set forth to discover Slovakia. The major modes of getting to Slovakia are by plane and train, and other public transportation modes are local buses, trains, taxis, etc.

You can reach the following airports when traveling from a foreign or European country.

• Bratislava International Airport: It is located in the capital city. You can fly at reasonable prices with Czech Airlines, RYANAIR, Smart Wings, or WIZZ AIR. A local taxi or bus number 61 will take you to the main railway station. Pay €10 for the taxi, or take a 60-minute ticket for the bus. The train will take you to the biggest towns and the higher Tatra Mountains.
•  Vienna International Airport: It is 60km away from the capital city. Tourists from Asia, America, and Australia can start exploring the city from this airport. Take Regio Jet or Slovak Lines bus that stops at the main bus station and charges €5. For the main railway station, take Trolleybus Number 210.
• Krakow Airport Jana Pawla II: It is located 2 hours from Slovakia. Take a flight to this airport if you want to visit the High Tatras. You can travel through Leo Express or hire a private car for a group charging between €50 to €100.

Apart from these major airports, you can also get to Slovakia by train.

• Get to Bratislava Hlavna Stanica or Bratislava Petrzalka from Vienna. It will take one hour. The Hlavna Stanica is close to the old city and city center. Return ticket costs €14.
• Get from Budapest through the EuroCity train that will take 2 hours to reach Bratislava Hlavna Stanica. The ticket costs €15, and the return ticket cost is €17.50.
• Get from Prague to Bratislava Hlavna Stanica, which takes approx 4 hours. Take a direct train to Poprad, near the High Tatras, if you want to travel there. The one-way ticket is €15, and the return ticket is €30.
